Avery® Power FlagTM and Super FlagTM by Mike Bard

A flag is one of the most important pieces of equipment in a goose hunter’s arsenal and some will even argue that it’s more valuable than a goose call. When you first see geese off in the distance, too far away for them to hear your call, your flag is what initially grabs their attention and some geese like to see the flag all the way in.

I’ve tried a number of flags of the years of chasing geese, most of which never lasted more than a couple months of the season before they broke.  Many companies use a wooden dowel in creating their product, which seems to soak in moisture and eventually wood splits and typically that split occurs where the holes were drilled for the fiberglass rods or where the screw was placed.

Avery Outdoors® has two newly designed flags on the market today, the Power FlagTM and the Super FlagTM. The difference is only in the detail of the fabric used on the flag, the Power FlagTM is black and white, while the Super FlagTM offers goose feather detail. There are options for both flags to have the underside of the flag’s fabric to be camoflauged to hide the flag better when not being used.

Avery® built these flags to not only with stand the rigors of hunting, but to offer more realistic motion and comfort for the hunter. I have used two Power FlagsTM over the last two seasons and this last season added a Super FlagTM to the mix, all of which have held up to 50+ days in the field a season. Each model of flag also has a golf club-like grip as a handle making it more comfortable and easier to hold on to the flag when operating.
