Zink® Crystal Power HenTM Friction Call by Rusty Hallock The Zink Crystal Power HenTM in Action... During the spring turkey season of 2008, I was fortunate enough to use a prototype Power Hen Crystal turkey call. I will be the first to admit that I have never been a huge fan of crystal calls, and always chose slate over all other materials. I have always used slate calls because of the area that I hunt. I hunt the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland in low lying swamp areas that are thick. With the thick vegetation that is normally present, I choose calls that are quite, because I am normally working turkeys in tight and normally do not have a visual on turkeys until they are in range. As soon as I opened the new call, I noticed the quality of workmanship that went into the call. The call was well thought out during its development due to the years of experience of the turkey pros on the Zink Calls staff. The Power Hen Crystal came with two strikers; laminated flared tip and a standard hickory striker. Both strikers work great with the call, but the flared tip striker is extremely user friendly. After the first few minutes of running the call, I knew that this was going to be my primary call for the season. Besides the call’s ability to produce loud yelps and excited cutts for calling turkeys at a long distance, it can be toned down with sounds similar to a slate call for working turkeys in tight especially in areas of thicker vegetation. Zink Calls recently introduced the Power Hen Crystal to the public and can be purchased directly through the shop or any Zink dealer. The new Power Hen Crystal is a very good call that can do it all.
