Pure Gold Turkey Choke Tube by David Rearick
This past spring I had the pleasure of using one of Pure Gold's 12 Ga Turkey Choke Tubes in my Benelli for spring gobbler. After field testing this .670 constriction tube at the range, I found that the tube performed excellently with a wide variety of loads. It consistently yielded devastatingly tight patterns on my standard 40 yard test target, and continued to maintain an exceptional head/neck pellet count as far out as the 60 yardsmark with no significant flyer count. Combining the tight pattern, while minimalizing flyer's, is crucial in the choke tubes I select and this tube offered both without having to test 10 plus different load combinations to get there. Pre-testing at the range and selecting the best load for your gun/choke tube set up is important, and when it came time to head into woods, I knew I was ready out to 60 yards if need be. The only mistake I made was not testing the load/choke at under 10 yards, and after a shot over the bow of a nice longbeard in a trio, I settled the gun in and cleanly took my first PA longbeard of the season at 40 yards on the move. I grade the choke an A, and after a adding a new dot to my gun this year, I will be back at the range patterning loads to the choke, and have no doubt I will have an excellent combination come opening day. Along with Pure Gold's IC Choke Tube, they make a variety of high quality choke tubes for everything from sporting clays to various constriction turkey tubes.
