WindWhacker Decoys by David Rearick

(c)David Rearick, Avery Outdoors

In my home state of Pennsylvania along with many other states in the country, electric powered motion decoys are not legal for use. These left a great void in creating motion in our spread, specifically on windy days. After trying many different wind powered spinning wing decoys over the years, I found the results less than stellar to say the least. That all changed this year when we started using WindWhacker decoys. Even on days where the wind was just breaking 4 mph, the decoys preformed great creating that flash that makes mallards crazy.

Not only do these decoys create a similar flash to that of your standard battery powered motion decoys, they are a pleasure to work with. They are extremely easy to set-up and take down, very durable, and there are very little parts to come up missing at O'dark 30. Coupling this with the fact that I no longer needed to make sure my batteries are charged every night; they are really worth the price.

WindWhacker makes many different types of decoys including; doves, different duck wing combinations, and even a floating rig for diver hunters. I had the pleasure of working with all of them this year and the effect of mesmorizing your quarry is the same. Overall, my opinion is the the decoys really work, and they work well giving them an A rating in my book. I even have a set-up to be used for snow goose hunting this spring, and I am sure they will really add to my spread when the birds start flying.
