Avery® Ground Force Dog Blind ™ by Erik Nilsson
One of the items that I have been using for training and
hunting with my dog is the Ground Force Dog blind from Avery®.
This blind is an asset to dog owners wishing to conceal their dog while
hunting. It sets up very simply utilizing two poles that quickly connect to each other. The
blind offers two openings, a durable floor and stubble straps for additional
concealment. The Ground Force Dog blind™ is very light weight and has a shoulder strap
to carry it making carrying it to and from the field a breeze. This blind can also be attached to the Avery® Field Stand for hunting in water, providing excellent versatility for hunters that hunt varying scenarios each day. Their is also an optional snow cover availabale for hunters that get white stuff during the winter. We train with it during the off season by running marks from
it and we work on being steady, and when we hunt together in the fall, it gives him a warm dry place to be when the weather
turns cold and nasty. Training with it during the off season allows the dog to obtain a comfortable and content feeling when the season opens, as it is just more of the same and not a completely new experience.
Quick Tip-- A simple way to teach a dog to go into the Ground Force Dog
Blind is by using the kennel command along with giving him treats each time he would enters. After a few attempts they become eager to go into the blind much like when being taught to kennel into a crate. Once in, use the down/stay
command to keep him in there and steady. You may
find that a helper is needed to call the dog in from the other side at first.
The key to success with it is praise and reward for them to make it an
enjoyable place to be. ![]() ©Erik Nilsson, Game Hogg Hunt ClubTM
