Rage 2 Blade Broadheads by Rusty Hallock
This past deer season, I chose to go back into the deer woods after taking the past 10 seasons off from archery season. This time I was going afield with a crossbow. In the past, I had used fixed 3 and 4 blade broadheads with my compound with decent success. After talking to several of my friends that stayed current with archery equipment, they suggested that I try the 2-Blade Rage broadheads. I always stayed away from mechanical broadheads, but I decided to give them a try, especially with the speed that my crossbow was going to deliver them to target. I picked up a package of 2-Blade Rage broadheads. Each package includes; 3 broadheads and 1 practice broadhead. My crossbow was sighted in with 100 grain field points. I screwed in the practice broadhead and shot at targets from 20 to 40 yards. To my amazement, the practice broadheads were dead on out to 40 yards. I removed the 3 broadheads out of their package and matched them up with arrows. This was accomplished by attaching the broadhead onto the arrow and spinning the arrow to assure there was no wobble. This past season, I shot 5 mature does and my dad shot 1 mature doe with 2-Blade Rage broadheads. On all 6 deer, the Rages performed flawlessly. They opened to their 2” cutting diameter on contact and completely passed through each deer. All 6 of the deer dropped with in 30 yards. Even though all of the deer dropped with in eye sight, I went to the point of the shot on each deer and noticed blood spray on the ground. There was a very good blood trail from the point of impact to where the deer dropped. The complete pass through allowed the deer to bleed out both sides. The only downside to the 2-Blade Rage is that I had to change the blades after each deer because the blades were chipped or warped. In my opinion, this is a cheap price to pay for the performance that I achieved with these quick kills. The blades were easy to replace by simply using a vice, small hammer and punch. The 2-Blade Rage teamed up with my GT Mag was an efficient tool to quickly harvest whitetail deer. Copyright © 2008 Game Hogg Hunt ClubTM. All rights reserved. |
